Etsy House: The UK’s first Etsy pop up shop
This Christmas, following the success of the Etsy Soho New York pop up, Etsy UK launched Etsy House, their first-ever, three-day UK Etsy pop-up shop. Located in the heart of London’s Covent Garden, the shop featured products for sale from Etsy sellers across multiple categories: art, home decor, bath & body, clothing, jewellery, furniture, stationery, and more. Visitors to Etsy House were also able to book onto workshops hosted by Etsy designer-makers as well as order personalised items from Etsy sellers who were live crafting in store.
7,500 customers walked through the doors in just three days, with the pop up taking in over £36,000. Laid out like a house with a playroom, bathroom, bedroom and dining room, customers were able to peruse through the house, viewing Etsy’s beautiful hand-crafted products on sale. Interactive workshops took place throughout the weekend too where customers were able to get their presents personalised.
Etsy.com is a wonderful example of the huge growth in the ‘cottage industry’. The surgence in consumers quitting their jobs or being made redundant in this climate has created an ecomomy of people going back to what the love, making the most of what they can do creatively, and building their own businesses through Etsy.com.
