Mission at Wool Week’s 2014 Wool Ride

Hundreds of people showed up in their beautifully composed wool riding gear to parade through London and share the woollen love. Riders were treated to a host of activities from The Campaign for Wool’s amazing partners along the 13.4 mile interactive route.

The event village at Potters Field became a creative focal point of wool and textiles with demonstrations and talks on The Story of Wool: A Good Yarn and From Source to Scarf complete with a pen of sheep to create the story. Look Mum no Hands came down to the Wool Village and kept everyone refreshed and energised with some delicious food, beverages as well as a basic bike check-up station! In addition, and probably the most popular area was the stage, which hosted live music, a bicycle duo performance, speeches and prize giving for the best dressed!

Other highlights include the live weaving exhibition from DAKS London, there wasn’t a minute when they didn’t have a crowd huddled around them in awe! The bike decoration station certainly had the younger members of the wool ride enthused also, we’ve never seen bike decor quite so imaginative!

Campaign for Wool and Mission could not have asked for a better turn out from our wool riders, but it was a particular delight to see masses of Londoners and tourists flock to Wool Village with curiosity and visit the exhibitionists after seeing the wonderful flurry of fibre riding through London. We would like to thank everyone who came down to support the inaugural Wool Ride 2014 and all of the Mission members who came down to participate and support.
