The All Blacks train at Equinox

They did chest presses, walking lunges, squats and chin ups as well as taking advantage of the juice bar at the club.

Nicholas Gill, Strength & Conditioning coach, The All Blacks, said: ‘It’s exciting to finally have a fitness club in London that matches our approach to training and performance.

The space and facilities at Equinox Kensington have been ideal to get the team ready for Saturday’s game”Success is not something that automatically comes, it take great planning and preparation.

Movement preparation- half squat lateral walks- Great way to prep your glutes for stabilization, agility and power drills.

Active isolated stretching- a necessity for full potentiation of muscle length for explosive  movements.

Core work- Side planks are a great way to get your gluteus medius to fire while also training your entire core musculature. Especially brilliant for stabilizing the shoulder girdle! Helps to make and take those big hits during a match.

Strength and Endurance- Eccentric loaded chest press, walking lunges, pulls ups are all essential for deceleration and control. All critical for ruling the field.

Speed and Agility- speed ladder and cutting drills should include forward, backward, lateral and rotational patterns give an extra edge when playing for that big win.

Plometrics and Power- Easy to say, hard to do. Maximal force output with impeccable decelerative ability are but one way to rule your workouts. Proper preparation and progression needed.

Preparing for any winning situation starts with proper planning and a well equipped facility.
