London, UK – The prospects of capturing a compelling image once the sun has gone down has always been pretty ‘dim’.
However Nokia has set out to dispel the gloom by capturing previously hidden human stories thanks to the low light capability of its Lumia 925 phone.
The company travelled the length and breadth of the UK with photojournalist Nick Ray, to photograph the hidden lives of people at night and to shed light on their amazing stories that would otherwise go untold or unseen.
Recent Nokia research has revealed that 71% of people said low light was the most challenging situation in which to take a good photo and two thirds of people said they were disappointed with the photos they had taken after dark or in low light conditions.
The campaign aims to open the UK’s eyes to some of its hidden nightlife. From nurses tending unwanted pets looked after around the clock at an RSPCA animal shelter in Stoke Newington to burlesque performers in Soho getting ready to bring Soho to life, all the nightlife was captured on its latest device, the Nokia Lumia 925.
The images reveal a hidden homeless community sleeping rough on the urban streets of Liverpool city centre and the work done by volunteers at the Whitechapel Centre in Liverpool, a homeless and housing charity, the story of Chloe, a 24-year-old mother who works as a beautician by day but at night, after making sure her five-year-old daughter is being looked after, trains as a kickboxer. The Junior World and European champion, she trains at the UK’s leading MMA fighting venue in Leeds.
Other images capture the work of vets looking after abandoned cats and dogs in north London.
The Lumia 925 has an 8.7-megapixel camera with PureView technology, Optical Image Stabilization and Carl Zeiss optics that capture incredible blur-free pictures and videos even if your hand is shaky, or in low light conditions.
