Red Wine Drinking Lemurs? It Must Be April Fools…

April 2, 2012, by Reah

April Fools Day was saturated with practical jokes of every kind, but Oddbins definitely set the bar high this year with a little help from a few red Lemurs.

Oddbins partnered with the Isle of Wight Zoo to fake some research which claimed to discover the benefits of red wine in mammals, particularly Lemurs, who are often prone to an iron disorder called haemosiderosis, caused by an abnormal accumulation of iron.

After testing several red wine types, “scientists” at the Isle of Wight Zoo concluded that Beaujolais was the most popular wine with the lemurs.

After seeing images of a fuzzy Lemur guzzling down a glass of red wine, many of us were dumb-founded to discover that we had, been fooled.
